The East Wing Addition at Mount Nittany Medical Center will house a new state of the art 12 bed Intensive Care Unit, 14 bed Same Day Surgery Suite, Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, executive offices, a multipurpose conference center and an employee fitness area. Construction for the new facility began in November of 2002. Completion is expected in January of 2004.

GJAI Consulting Engineers is providing all HVAC, plumbing, electrical, medical gas and site utility design services for the new addition. The new design includes expansion of the hospital central high-pressure steam plant and emergency power systems. The new mechanical and electrical systems utilize energy efficient design practices while providing occupant comfort and safety. Mount Nittany Medical Center relied on GJAI’s extensive healthcare industry expertise to engineer building systems critical to patient health, safety and comfort including surgery suites, protective environment spaces, and infection isolation spaces. GJAI’s design incorporates new building systems with existing systems to provide a seamless transition for patients and hospital personnel alike.
