The renovations to the Emergency Department at Mount Nittany Medical Center will expand the department by 1,500 square feet providing much needed examination rooms and a renovated registration and waiting area. The project also consisted of a 4,500 square foot renovation in the existing emergency department. Renovation to the emergency department began in October of 2002. Completion is expected in October of 2003.

GJAI Consulting Engineers is provided all HVAC, plumbing, electrical, medical gas, site utility and fire alarm design services for the department renovation. The new design incorporates a new protective isolation room, expansion of treatment, triage, exam rooms and laboratory space.

GJAI incorporated a construction sequence into the systems design to allow the emergency department to remain in operation throughout construction.
