The new Centre Medical Sciences Building
in State College was developed as a design/build/finance project. The
new facility, a joint venture between The Pennsylvania State University
and Mount Nittany Medical Center, houses services new to the community
as well as various services that had been offered at different locations.
Primary tenants include the Penn State Center for Sports
Medicine, the Penn State University Physicians of the Hershey Medical
Center, Centre Community Surgical Center, the Comprehensive Breast Care
Center and IMA, a 20-doctor primary care and internal medicine practice.
The building also houses X-ray suites, medical records office, cardiac
rehabilitation center and laboratory space.
The building was originally constructed as a shell building
with mechanical and electrical systems that could be adapted to various
size and types of users. As the project construction progressed various
tenants were added to the building requiring constant updating of documents
and systems. The entire building was designed using CAD systems allowing
simplified integration of changes to the contract documents to suite
tenant fit out.
The various occupancies and tenant fit outs required
GJAI to provide flexible and performance driven building systems suitable
to meet all present and future tenant needs.
